Asta from Finland volunteered with us for February and March 2017. “My previous visit to Cambodia had sparked an interest to this fascinating culture, and I wanted to spend more time here. Asking around about volunteering possibilities I was introduced to Banteay Srei. Their work impressed me, and as I’m interested in gender issues, I took this as an opportunity to learn about the situation in Cambodia.
I was very excited to be accepted to volunteer. Now my time in Cambodia is coming to an end, and it has been a great experience. I’ve learned a lot about women’s issues in Cambodian society, and I’ve seen the impact of Banteay Srei’s projects. Women are being trained in different skills to improve their livelihood, encouraged and trained to mobilize politically, and above everything, they are taught to believe in themselves and their rights as equal citizens to men. I’m confident that with help of Banteay Srei and other similar organizations big steps on gender issues are and will be achieved. I feel proud to have been able to contribute.
I was welcomed to the team with open arms since the first day, everyone in the Banteay Srei staff has been wonderfully kind and keen on introducing Cambodian culture to me. I warmly recommend volunteering with Banteay Srei to anyone with interest in gender equality and Cambodia.”
We highly value our partnerships with the following donors, who not only share our vision and provide us with financial assistance but also motivate and inspire us to achieve our objectives. We are deeply grateful for their ongoing support
