Banteay Srei employs a rights-based approach for each of our four programme areas:
We empower women to participate in their communities’ development process by building their skills in leadership and raising awareness of their rights, with an emphasis on women’s participation in decentralisation processes.
We improve the livelihoods of vulnerable families by developing women and men’s skills in sustainable agriculture, disaster preparedness, micro enterprise and natural resource management.
We increase community action and positive behaviour change in relation to gender relations, reducing gender-based violence, increasing women’s participation in social activities and encouraging shared decision-making within families.
Community level: We identify new target areas based on local needs and phase out from old target villages for sustainable development, using participatory assessment and analysis processes.
Organisational level: We are constantly strengthening the capacity of our staff and programme management systems, and we support organisational development with an emphasis on co-operation with local authorities and networking with relevant organisations and agencies. Banteay Srei continues to develop its own capacity as an organisation, training its staff in new tools and techniques and improving its internal systems to be more responsive and effective.
